Abstract: Raiffeisen banks in Austria make a valuable contribution to their communities through their dual objectives. The banks not only pursue the goal of financial performance, but also promote members and regions. Since this funding mandate is interpreted individually by each cooperative, transparent reporting is necessary so that the stakeholders can understand the efforts of the banks. Accordingly, this paper determined the extent to which Austrian Raiffeisen banks disclose information about their actions to the public on their own websites. The homepages of all 349 institutes were examined with regard to information on their history, current publications, press or newsletters, advantages for members, corporate philosophy, information on sponsoring and sustainability as well as specific individual projects. The indexed results were related to company size and management qualifications; a positive correlation between the balance sheet total or the qualifications of the management and the willingness to provide information on the part of the respective institutions could be identified.
