Abstract: This article presents selected empirical results of a study on "Sustainability of Cooperative Banks" sponsored by the DZ Bank Foundation. The conceptual considerations and empirical findings show that the morphological characteristics of cooperative banks can favor a sustainable corporate policy. The explanations further make clear that it is necessary to use these advantages strategically. This is particularly relevant concerning future regulatory requirements.
