Abstract: This article presents the empirical results of a qualitative case study on the founding process of Euro Plant Tray eG. An important driver for the successful founding of the cooperative was the shared vision of establishing a cross-sector reusable packaging system for the European plant trade, thereby avoiding plastic waste and conserving natural resources. The results of the study show that the Euro Plant Tray eG business model can also serve as a blueprint for the estab-lishment of reusable systems in other sectors in order to adequately prepare European economies for future ecological and economic challenges.
