Abstract:
Business services decentralization within metropolitan areas is often linked in the literature to the decline of CBDs. In this paper, we study the reality of such dynamics as well as the impact on intra-metropolitan economic centrality in a Parisian region known for its long-time inherited monocentric-ity. Thanks to a renewed spatial methodology and an innovative grid of analysis, we propose an explanation taking into account business services? spatial differentiation. The impact on the labour market is measured: business services decentralization is at the same time reinforcing the regional market unity and inducing sub-regional fragmentation.
