Abstract:
The focus on cooperation networks between industrial and scientific actors has renewed the literature on clusters and innovation processes. This relational approach tough deserves further enquiry insofar as it has led to a somehow binary global/local approach of the spatial dynamics of innovation networks. This paper combines a relational and spatial approach of networks to study the case of the French competitiveness cluster policy. Combining social network analysis and conventional mapping of networks enables to better understand the links between the ongoing structuration of actor networks and their spatial dynamics. Through the comparative and diachronic analysis of 7 competitiveness clusters of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d?Azur region this paper enlightens the territorialization of innovation networks anchored in the same region but embedded in various industrial fields.
