Les « Ateneus de Fabricació » barcelonais et les « Laboratorios ciudadanos » madrilènes. Une nouvelle approche de l’innovation urbaine ?

Raphaël Besson

Géographie, économie, société, 2018, vol. 20, issue 1, 113-141

Abstract: Under conditions of economic crisis, of strong start of the politic party ?Podemos? and citizens protests derived from the Indignant movement, the ?Laboratorios Ciudadanos? from Madrid and the ?Ateneus de Fabricació? from Barcelona reinvent the contours of urban innovation. These new spaces oppose sort of relativism to the technological determinism of the smart cities?; they claim their ability to permanently hybrid and reinvent the relationship between science, technology and society. Against a focus on planning and concentrating the creative and innovative district, these areas promote the endogenous, informal and unexpected nature of their conditions of emergence and functioning. In order better to understand the theorical and empirical scope of this new generation of Cognitive Urban System (Besson, 2012), we propose a first analysis of Barcelona?s Fabrication Ateneus and Madrid?s citizens?s Laboratories. The issue: retrieve of these spanish experiences a valuable teaching to redesign our urban innovative policy.
