Abstract:
Long neglected, back country sport can play an important role in territorial development . Based on the examples of equestrian and hunting leisure, a grid of structuring and destructuring effects in terms of development has been applied by retaining economic base and territorial resource as main theoretical frameworks. From specific investigations in Normandy (for riding) and in height study areas (for hunting), the results tend to show the basic nature of the expenses related to these activities (including substituting other external forms of leisure outside territories) on the basis of identity or cultural resources.
