Abstract:
The status of region is periodically discussed and renewed in regional science literature. The health crisis highlights interdependencies and fragilities of many regions inserted in global value chains, in line with valorization of their comparative advantages. The authors revisit the development of the idea of region that underlies this situation before considering ideas for a more integrated conception of the region, taking into account links with natural resources and basic needs of populations.
