La remise en cause d’un business model dominant: le cas du football professionnel français

Guillaume Detchenique and Fernando Cezar

Innovations, 2023, vol. N° 72, issue 3, 241-268

Abstract: We apply the RCOV business model approach and the institutional isomorphism concept to understand changes in the French professional football. To combat uncertainty, organizations in the same organizational field may favor isomorphism when it comes to business model. If institutional entrepreneurs can develop new business models, start-up businesses are more likely to have this capability than established organizations : How can established organizations then innovate about their business model to reduce the isomorphism in which they evolve ? The findings, which came from the gathering and qualitative analysis of primary and secondary data, show how, after initially adopting a dominant model, several French professional football clubs are now using one of the three innovation strategies of business model identified.
