L'intégration commerciale de l'Argentine et du Brésil favorise-t-elle leur insertion au sein de l'économie mondiale ?

Abstract:
Is the integration process between Argentina and Brazil beneficial for competitive multilateral insertion ? Analyses based on a traditional static approach tend to counter such a conclusion. Nevertheless, several branches are experiencing a simultaneous progression in bilateral trade preferences and in revealed comparative advantages ; most of them contribute to the expansion of bilateral intra-industry trade and some are intensive in economies of scales. These observations are in conformity with the models of the new international economy. Moreover, the competitive effects of ? new regionalism ? induce gains in productivity, owing to both the regional and multilateral opening process, along with the encouragement of foreign investment, particularly the automotive sector.
