Abstract:
In recognising the child, individually and collectively, as the author of his or her own future, the International Convention on Children?s Rights has opened the way for a new phenomenon within society. Child worker organisations are demanding the right to education as well as the right to a fairly-paid job and decent working conditions. This article invites the reader to take the wishes of child workers seriously, to look beyond the framework of existing child action programmes and to question the very concept of work itself and its role in the making of our world.
