Abstract:
This paper aims to highlight the effects of trade opening on the long term growth dynamics and to draw lessons from the inertia and the structural vulnerabilities of the Middle East and North Africa countries industrialization trajectories. Industrialization without technological appropriation, impeding economic diversification, exposes strongly these economies to external shocks. We propose also to discuss the conditions of transition from the export-led growth model in a crisis context.
