Abstract:
The participatory illusion and the culturalist illusion are reducing the potential of tourism to contribute to the Millennium Development Goals and to develop others form of richness than the one that underpins utilitarianism, as the decision-making, sociability, the experience of otherness... We highlight the possible effects of these two illusions on the basis of an analysis of the community based tourism experience conducted in Benin by a French association of responsible tourism.
