Abstract:
The notion of civil society is blur, as it describes everything that is not from the State. Finding an operational definition that remains flexible enough to encompass the diversity of democratic cultures and forms of expressions is a challenge. This paper proposes to identify the characteristics of the general organization of civil society to better define civil society organizations (CSO). This clarification is essential to respect cultural diversity while analyzing strategies for democratic development.
