Abstract: Based on singular events arisen during a field research on pastoral hydraulics in the Chad, and on a more general argumentation on the methods of survey and the interventions of projects in Africa, this text deals with the mobilization and the instrumentalization of the research in social sciences by the system of public aid. Conditions to a scientific production on the development are reminded, considering the procedures and the characteristics of the system of foreign aid.
