Abstract:
This paper highlights, in a macroeconomic perspective, the impact of microfinance on poverty in terms of human development and multidimensional poverty. Results from panel data estimations for ECOWAS countries show that microfinance is positively related to dimensional indexes for human development, such us the health index and the income index. The results also show that microfinance contributes to the decline of multidimensional poverty in ECOWAS countries.
