Abstract: Employment policies in developing countries follow, in terms of both doctrine and practical application, a path parallel to that which has been observed in recent decades in industrialized economies, particularly in the European Union. However, their inclusion in the Poverty Reduction Strategies implies certain specificities, and makes them, in conjunction with social and training policies, a central axis of the new consensus on development.
