Abstract:
The strong interdependencies between the European Union (EU) and its external suppliers of natural gas bring to the fore conflicts and contradictory logics. These questions are linked to the coexistence of different institutional arrangements in natural gas exchanges. This is clearly an emerging issue in the relationship between the EU and Russia. The confrontation of these two institutional arrangements seems to have a ?transformative impact? on the regulations and energy policies of Russia and the EU. The purpose of this article is to analyze the conflicts and the economic and institutional risks that result from the confrontation of these two spaces of regulation.
