La monnaie locale écologique, une tentative d’évaluation

Abstract:
This article assesses Blanc and Fabert’s (2017) monetary proposal for financing ecological transition. It draws a comparison with complementary fiscal currency by mobilizing the concept of public currency. This study shows that local ecological currency is built on well-organized institutions to ensure its circulation and has greater political legitimacy. Paradoxically, its limitations are the reasons for its success. Because this currency does not seek to influence monetary aggregates, its issue can be controlled according to the territory’s needs and economic and tax conditions.
