Abstract:
This paper examines COVID-19 policies implemented by small island economies (SIEs), focusing on differences between SIEs and non-SIEs, and between affiliated and independent SIEs. A single database comprising eighty-four SIEs helps analyze the measures adopted and implementation timelines. The results reveal that SIEs took action early compared to non-SIEs, with no clear distinction between affiliated and independent SIEs. Insularity is distinguished by earlier action implementation times, while the independence criterion did not show a significant difference.
