Abstract:
This paper deals with the inequalities in the French academic job market. First, it shows that academic hiring in France follow less and less the rules and principles of the French public competitive exams. Then, two main categories of inequalities arising from this competition are addressed : inequalities linked to the timing of access to a first position and inequalities occurring during the careers. The author finally concludes that these inequalities will grow asthe French higher education system is more and more differentiated.
