Genèse du discours sur la nouvelle économie aux États-Unis

Revue économique, 2001, vol. 52, issue 7, 379-399
Abstract:
Discourse on the new economy is rooted in the shift from the original free, academic internet to the beginnings of today?s mass, commercial Internet. Some computer specialists tried to maintain the founding tradition by proposing an alternative economic model : freeware. Others, by contrast, saw the internet as a medium like any other for advertising and doing business. Lastly, certain members of the computing intelligentsia saw a « new economy » in cyberspace. This article analyses the origins of these three discourses on the basis of texts from the magazine Wired. Classification JEL : L86, M37, O33, O34
