Abstract:
This paper seeks to question neoliberal discourse, which views the employment-income equality and employment-redistribution trade-off as an inevitable fact of economic life. We shall put this discourse in perspective by outlining neo-institutional analyses of the variety of capitalism and listing a number of key empirical facts. Finally, we plan to examine the relevance of the employment-income equality and employment-redistribution dilemmas by drawing on a cointegration study between three variables (employment rate, primary income index and social benefits as a percentage of gdp) across the usa, Sweden and Germany. Classification JEL : C2, H5, P5.
