Revue économique, 2009, vol. 60, issue 2, 345-363

Abstract: In this article, we seek to understand the activity and retirement behaviors of the 1940-generation of the pension scheme of the French Social security?s insured, who have an incomplete career, i.e. an insufficient insurance period to fulfill the full-rate pension criterion. From a typology of their professional courses and logistic models, we highlight the significant links between professional paths, retirement age and retirement conditions (disability pension, inability pension, reduced-rate pension, full rate by age). Then, we find the major role of the health. Classification JEL : J14, J16, J26
