Départ à la retraite: femmes et hommes prennent-ils les mêmes décisions ?

Abstract:
The literature on gender differences in retirement behavior is scarce partly because it is difficult to tell apart career differences and differences in retirement choices between individuals. Based on the French pension reform of 2003, which modified the financial incentives to retire, we show that, other individual characteristics held equal, women and men do not make the same decisions. Men respond more to financial incentives and delay their retirement age more. Overall, however, the combination of different career characteristics and behaviors leads to a similar average effect of the reform for women and men.
