Abstract:
The object of this article is to analyze the diversification determinants of the Korean industrial groups within the framework of the agency and the strategic resources theories. The results, obtained from the empirical analysis concerning 28 large Korean groups, suggest that the family shareholder uses the diversification to serve its interests and that the resources flexibility criterion is not directly applicable to the diversification strategy of the Korean groups.
