Abstract:
?The purpose of our paper is the clarification of the complex reality and polysemous concept of industrial policy, focusing on its nature and evolution from the 1980s to the present day. Three periods are distinguished in order to characterize ?ideal-typical? industrial policies: a competition policy; an innovation and competitiveness-based policy and a structural change-oriented policy. Our contribution also investigates the various existing economic theories which provided analytical foundations to the different industrial policies which prevailed in these recent decades.?
