Abstract:
?The aim of this article is to try to define what strategy could be implemented by Gazprom, the dominant supplier of the EU, in order to preserve (or increase?) its maket share in the light of growing competition on the European gas market. Can Gazprom initiate a strategy that will make the uncertainty looming over future gas prices work in their favor? This option could be an alternative to a simple ?price war.? Gazprom has comparative advantages (low production costs, geographical, proximity, fully amortized infrastructure, a surplus of delivery capacity) to implement this strategic option. This strategy will be defined in reference to Saudi Arabia?s strategy on the international oil market.?
