Abstract:
Firms are increasingly viewing environmental innovation as a strategic investment, forming part of a proactive approach to reduce the potential negative impact of their activities on the environment. This article is divided into two parts. The first analyzes the different forms of innovation that are likely to constitute a lever for reducing negative environmental externalities and enhancing the firm?s competitive advantage. The second is a case study of Decathlon?s environmental practices. This study identifies and analyzes the activities giving rise to negative environmental externalities, the different forms of innovation developed by this firm, and their potential impact.
