Abstract:
This research adapts the organizational commitment model to the context of nascent entrepreneurship. Four studies enabled the development and testing of a measurement tool tailored to this new context. This iterative process led to the reformulation of Meyer and Allen?s initial dimensions and a turn toward a two-component model composed of affective (value-based) and instrumental (exchanged-based) commitment. It also positions commitment within a nomological network of antecedents and outcomes and demonstrates its relevance to the study of the entrepreneurial process. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to operationalize the organizational commitment model to emerging organizations.
