Abstract:
This article aims at familiarizing decision-making and academic European audiences to new quantitative empirical tools developed and used in the United States to assess the corporate environmental performance and illuminate the environmental justice issues attached to them. The article begins with a recall of the main findings of the literature on environmental justice in the US, its progress and some of its limitations. It then presents empirical methods and the most recent data on the corporate environmental performance of industrial sectors and large U.S. firms. Finally, it insists on the fact that a crucial issue for future advances in these research areas is the availability of geocoded data and application of integrative methods to facilitate the interpretation of these data.
