Revue d'économie régionale et urbaine, 2007, vol. mai, issue 1, 111-125
Abstract:
Paul KRUGMAN, professor of economics at Princeton University, is well-known for his models of increasing returns in the world trade theory and their use in economic geography. His aim is to explain the reasons for the localization of activities and the concentration of firms. The purpose of this paper is to set out KRUGMAN?s key role in the current evolution of economic geography. Even though his approach is not innovative it gave new impetus to this field, which could not get through a state of lethargy. Nevertheless, geographers did not welcome his research because of its limitation and also because his methodology is different. Still, everybody would benefit from sharing one another?s research, to concur in a multidisciplinary approach.
