Abstract: The articles included in this collection have originated from a workshop held in Annecy (France) in 2006 to discuss recent developments in the study of territorial dynamics. This special issue does not offer a comprehensive coverage of all the issues of territorial dynamics but the selected papers give an overview of the interconnections between industrial economics and regional science, in particular through their application of the proximity theory.
