Mises en scène patrimoniales et développement territorial: un modèle inspiré des Alpes

Delphine Rime (Guex)

Revue d'économie régionale et urbaine, 2014, vol. décembre, issue 5, 885-904

Abstract: This paper questions the notion of heritage through the concept of staging. It is based on the theoretical articulation of the main issues in the fields of tourism studies and regional science with regard to the question of heritage. Based on a socioeconomic understanding of the process of transaction, two distinct types of heritage constituting the territorial heritage are proposed: the romantic heritage and the industrial heritage. The analysis concerns the patrimonial stage settings in three Swiss tourist resorts, from the 19th century until today. The main conclusion of the paper concerns the potential of value creation based on the notion of authenticity, thanks to these two heritage resources. It also asks the question of their weight in the development of regions particularly concerned by the presence of people and of their expenses in a place.
