Abstract:
Standing from the point of view of the new sustainable business models such as circular economy, functional economy and industrial ecology, this article tries to analyze the way actors build news forms of wealth through collective action. We differentiate two forms of value creation: value for shareholders (for the firm or for insiders) and value for territorial stakeholders (for the territory). This value comes from the transformation of social externalities into different form of activities creating wealth. We then question the capacity for sustainable business models to redefine the territory through collective and coordinated action between firms and territorial stakeholders. Beyond the concepts of stakeholder value, extended customer value or shared value, based on a co-constructed value with stakeholders for the firm and for stakeholders, we investigate the concept of territorial value from business models. A typology of new territorial economic models is offered, illustrated by different case studies.
