Abstract:
Studies in regional science increasingly suggest that the environment of newly created firms determines the scope of their value creation, and their local economic impact, even regional. In this paper, we question to what extent the differences in the entrepreneurial context contribute to explain the differences in the level of regional development. Our results suggest a spatial heterogeneity of the influence of the entrepreneurial context on regional development. Consequently, encouraging business creation is not enough, it is also necessary to create the favorable conditions for creating companies whose sustainability and job creation rates are high.
