Les réserves spéculatives de pétrole des pays de l’Opep durant la « bataille des quotas »

Mathias Berthod

Revue française d'économie, 2016, vol. XXXI, issue 3, 115-136

Abstract: This paper proposes a simulation of the strategic behaviors of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries? members during the?fight for quotas? (1982-1988). This period saw a majority of them increase their reported reserves as a consequence of a decision by the O.P.E.C. cartel to set production quotas in proportion to the stocks of oil. This is more than 300 billions of barrels which have been added to the reserves without any exploratory reason.
