Abstract: The present article puts forward a comparison between major drug laboratories and biotechnology enterprises based upon an original method: the study of patent quotations. It aims at a better understanding the potential and the limits of this method and at a deepening of our investigations concerning the complementarity of theses two types of enterprises.
