Abstract:
Over a span of thirty years, corporate philanthropy in France went from marginality to become a norm. This article builds upon archival data and 38 interviews with key field actors in order to outline a brief contemporary history of corporate philanthropy, which facilitates our understanding of its development. This historical account is divided into three phases and analyzed along seven key dimensions. A table summarizes the findings, followed by a discussion on the prospects for corporate philanthropy in France.
