Abstract:
Many projects of organizational change fail. This is usually explained in terms of actors? interplay (a struggle opposing pros and cons). This paper proposes an alternative interpretation based on an analysis of the materiality of the projects (in particular Powerpoint) through the identification of a mechanism. The mechanism highlights the phasing of the projects coupled with the demand for quick wins. The emphasis on the materiality shows the three tensions characterizing the Powerpoint and structuring the dynamics of projects: descriptive/normative, expansion/contraction, oblivion/retention.
