Abstract:
This research deals with the integration of social and environmental issues inside firms. We rely on the last theoretical developments of the strategy-as-practice research field and we focus on the contribution of middle managers. The results of our empirical investigations realized in a French temporary staffing firm detail the main practices developed by middle managers in order to implement a corporate social policy. We formulate propositions on the necessary cognitive, discursive and political competences that middle managers must have. We finally show how this research opens new research questions related to the implementation of social and environmental policies.
