Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to study major disruptions ? causing destabilisation ? in buyer-supplier relationships of strong interdependence, previously thought stable. The paper focuses on the causes of these disruptions. Three disturbances between a system integrator and strategic supplier (s) within the aerospace industry are analysed. They highlight the role of stakeholders in causing disruption, the strengthening of buyer-supplier relationships resulting from renewed stability and the political role of the supplier relationship manager in resolving the disruptions.
