Abstract:
This paper explores individuals? entry into a role. In particular, we focus on the models that individuals use when their role is newly created, weakly instutionalized. Through a qualitative study among 19 video game commentators, a newly created role in France, we highlight four types of role models: archetypes, peers, analogues and homologues. We discuss the specificity of these models during transitions into newly created roles, as well as ways to manage these particular transitions.
