D’utopismes en organisations. L’inhabituel comme ressource pour réviser les orthodoxies managériales

Hélène Picard and Ignasi Martí Lanuza

Revue française de gestion, 2016, vol. N° 260, issue 7, 71-90

Abstract: In response to the crises that affect contemporary societies and organizations, many actors experiment with alternative modes of organizing, entrepreneuring or leading. In this paper, we offer a historical review of the utopian concept in organizational theory, to trace the roots of such social innovations. Then, we introduce the post-structuralist notion of heterotopia, to shed light on localized experiments prefiguring alternatives in contemporary contexts. We discuss its implications for management studies, especially for the fields of leadership and organizational entrepreneurship.
