Abstract:
Dark tourism, i.e. the form of tourism related to places associated to death, faces an increasing and recent interest. Thanks to this success, the dark tourism sites create more economic value for both entrepreneurs and public authorities. However, the creation and exploitation of an economic activity related to dark tourism raise a lot of questions. The aim of this paper is to question both the sources of the creation of potential economic value as the limits of this search. The study of the World Trade Center area in New York offers some managerial recommendations to exploit these particular tourism sites.
