Abstract:
This article develops a cognitive and discursive approach to the emergence of new organisational fields. By analysing the discourse of sharing economy entrepreneurs, we identify four theoretical traditions underpinning the emergence of the sharing economy. We also shed light on debates and paradoxes within this emerging field, and formulate propositions on how normative and theoretical fragmentation affects the institutionalization of emerging fields.
