Bérangère Condomines and Emilie Hennequin

Revue française de gestion, 2018, vol. N° 270, issue 1, 71-85

Abstract: Current practices rely on the postulate that a competent employee is inevitably efficient. This article studies the reality of this postulate through the assessment center. We question quantitatively the relation competence/performance and employees? perception about this relation. Our results corroborate that competence is a determinant of performance. However, the latter is the result of a combination of factors, the link with competence being moderated by personal and situational factors.
