Abstract:
This article participates in the understanding of a skills management approach through the case of the implementation of a skills self-assessment tool in the radiology department of a Luxembourgish hospital. The research methodology is based on a qualitative approach mixing participative observation and interviews. The results show effects of the competency management tool implementation. At individual level, radiology operators become conscious of the complexity and variability of their work, which generates empowerment and autonomy. At organizational level, the map of the skills allows formalization of the individual and collective skills development to pilot them. In addition, such a competency management approach represents a motivational lever for the manager and impacts the determinants of the human efficiency.
