Abstract:
Performance appraisal interviews are the most widely used tool to evaluate managers. However, they implicitly rely on a deterministic performance model that does not take into account the impact of chance on results, even if the results of managerial actions (and, thus, managerial performance) are not the sole product of efforts and skills, but are also due to some extent to chance. Therefore, we suggest a new performance appraisal interview protocol that addresses this issue.
