Revue française de gestion, 2018, vol. N° 276, issue 7, 123-142

Abstract: One of the major managerial challenges for multi-stakeholder social cooperatives is to combine participative democracy and management efficacy. Particularly, this issue can be analyzed through social representations of participative political system. The case study of a SCIC (collective interest cooperative society) explores the multiple significations attributed to participation and leads to a theoretical framework combining the ?thresholds? of participation and the dimensions of a corporate political system. This framework enables to understand the challenges multi-stakeholder social cooperatives have to face when they implement a participative democracy.
